Classifying cars

Doesa anybody have an interset in creating a classification system for cars to determine which cars are comparable to which others for the purpose of competitive racing?

It just makes me sick to hear everybody slam every car because they dont handle as well as an F1 car, arent as fast as an escudo, or accelerate like a skyline.

About 15 classes would cover all the cars in the game, and there would of course be overlap...

Brain, I agree with you on this. I would also like to see a listing of the best car to win from the race series. You know the best one out of the random 4.

Super Touring Cars (clk racer, Calibra, altezza LM, skyline)
Touring (Altezza, CLK55, 318, Vantage, vanquish)
Super Sport (FTO LM, Skyline LM, RX-7 LM, etc)
Super Stock (vette, viper, cobra-r, supra, 3kgt, Skyline, NSX, RUF)
Rally Sport (Focus rally, impreza rally, lancia rally)
Rally stock (lancer, impreza, legacy, beetle RSI)
Rice Sport (s2000, lancer, Celica, beetle RSI, TT, Integra-R)

Is this too many categories?

Every one I have found is missing several cars. The Pre-release list dosent have cars like the Acura RSX, or Sprinter trueno Apex.

It's a good idea, but how would you classify the Escudo?

i would classify the escudo as rally super sport and the zonda never raced at lemans and u forgot to add the Viper GTS-R Team Oreca, the gillet also never raced at lemans and the panoz should be in the lemans prototype classifcation since it and the toyota gt1, r390 gt1, and 787b have all raced at lemans and were in the GTP/GT1 classifcation at lemans

Hi, Remember all those JGTC car's should be pretty close match for each other, Not sure if you have them in a class together.

FANTASTIC!

All of the "Official Car Lists" that I have read have been woefully incomplete, except this one.

The escudo is a fine machine, only it requires a delicate touch. Those that race f1 cars and aggressively swoosh around corneres have no place driving this marvelous machine. Properly tuned, there is not a car that can beat it on any* track road or rally. Opening up to full throttle is a recipie for disaster. If you are careful and mindful of newtonian physics, its a wonderful machine.


*with the POSSIBLE exception of SS-11

You are correct, and perhaps "lemans prototype" is not the proper class name, but it sounded cool. I am looking more for cars that are competitive with each other rather than cars that actually compete against each other. Would "Prototype" be a better name?

OK, in the roadster class, the Motor Sport Elise is a hard top correct?

Check this out:

In running in the Roadster Series in the Pro League, I saw that the Motor Sport Elise was running in the series. I then proceeded to buy and modify one. Guess what......It did not meet the regulation requirements for vehicles.

I have to call BS on that one. Any thoughts.......?

Oh yeah - might want to add the Shelby Cobra in the roadster class.

My bad - I didn't see it in your touring class. Yes oh yes - overlap of classes. Don't chew me out!

I think all the Skylines(except for racing versions) and all the non-rally Lancers belong in the Rice Sport category...

the new classifcation is cool, there is an overlap of cars but thats ok, i dont believe i saw the zonda race car but i wasnt reading all of the cars in your classes, u did a great job w/the classifications i doubt i could do that since i dont have the patience to go through with something of this magnitude


also i think the tvr speed 12 should be in the prototype class, the gt40 should also

I am trying to keep the cars competitive with one another. The lancers should probabally be in the rice sport category, so I'll fix that. Skylines howevere are WAY too fast for that class.

Well...a stock Skyline has the same amount of Hp as a stock Lancer...And you don't see too many Japanese touring cars...
