Ted Williams, the "best hitter of all time" as some people are calling him, died at the age of 83 today. He was the last batter to hit .400 in a season.
I heard he got boo'ed(sp) pretty badly when he was a rookie and because of that, said he'd never tip his hat to them again, but I didn't know he spit at people and hit line drives at them!
But yeah, a great hitter. It'll probably be a while before someone hits .400 again.
I'm not familiar with the more specific things in baseball so could you guys clear this up for me??? It seems similar to Bradman's 99.4 strike rate in cricket.
