I'm surprised to see Renault in this category of "nobody in a country picked them" - I thought the RS01 had always been at least okay, even before this latest buff pushed it into the meta. For this next season of GTWS races, I'm using the same strategy for picking a manufacturer that I did for the last one: choosing from the least popular ones in my country last season that I haven't already used. In GT1, there were 5 manufacturers that nobody in Canada picked last season -- Citroen, Dodge, Hyundai, Renault, and Suzuki -- so I'm looking at these.
Since no schedule has been posted for the next season, I've started testing these by replaying the races from last season with these cars in Custom Races, starting from pole against a single rival car.
I've gotten through the first two races. Here's how things are stacking up so far...

So far, I'm surprised by how well the Hyundai is doing, and how poorly the Renault is.
I'm not at all surprise about the Suzuki, though. I have really been struggling to figure out how to drive that thing. I know I need to short shift, but I'm still not able to get anywhere close to matching the pace of the other cars.
The Hyundai got a bit of power and lost some weight. A double boost. For this next season of GTWS races, I'm using the same strategy for picking a manufacturer that I did for the last one: choosing from the least popular ones in my country last season that I haven't already used. Combination of being outside the meta, even if they were close, and being a brand that absolutely no one in North America cares about at all.I'm surprised to see Renault in this category of "nobody in a country picked them" - I thought the RS01 had always been at least okay, even before this latest buff pushed it into the meta.
Got my Manu picked. Just waiting on the season to show it off.

Y'all brave deciding without seeing the combos yet. I have a short-list but am waiting it out.View attachment 1342707
Curious which manufacturer you picked!! Still can not decide myself, concidering to stay with Ferrari...maybe Citroen.

True. I don't do much daily in and around WS seasons because I spend the time practicing and prepping, and it protects the DR as a side effect. Side note, I just realized you're in Federal Way, that's only like half an hour from where I live. Small world! It's a different mindset. In GTWS races you know you have more time, you've prepared, you know it counts so you're not going to try anything dumb... I do a lot better in them, too, I barely do daily races these days to try to protect my DR because I usually lose it there lol
For sure, and GT1 heavy damage may help there as well. I definitely notice T1 being a lot smoother in those races, especially the longer ones. And the one shot qualifying (in the car you intend to race)... I much prefer this model. All the FP time gaining consistency can really payoff there, as long as everyone understands to "leave a gap"!Dudes are generally taking a lot less risks with overtakes and line choices, as well as the big equalizer being one-shot qualifying, which generally does a good job of setting you where you should be in the grid.
For me personally, I do t put a lot of time into daily races qualifying, so I’m usually coming from somewhere near the back
I say picked. I randomise the process. The only clue I'll give away is that it will require a bit of testing before some of the rounds.View attachment 1342707

Combo shombo! I'm not going to the world tour so I don't have to match it. More power to you for doing so.Y'all brave deciding without seeing the combos yet. I have a short-list but am waiting it out.
I'm definitely in the same boat. In daily races, I tend to place in the mid-pack, while in the GTWS events, I consistently do better. I'm guessing that is down to a few things:Does anyone else feel like their performance is wildly different in these races than in the daily's? I do a lot of practice race prep for these, so maybe that's the difference, but every time I do daily's I question my abilities and DR, then I go do Manu Cup and feel like
"oh yeah, I guess I can do this."
Exactly the same for me. I usually need some time to really get into the race and when I'm finally in my grove the daily race are, most of the time, over.Longer races - I find my driving style is better suited to these longer races. I might not have the best pace on the track, but I can often get through the race without any serious self-inflicted wrecks. I see a lot of faster drivers pushing too hard and binning it as a result.
I own a Toyota. I'm picking Toyota. Simples.
The vibe I'm getting is that the event has been cut down a ton, and I don't think its a coincidence a change like that would follow off the heels of the big Sony layoffs.Looks like we'll be getting announcements for this today
Though judging by the reactions of the Esports drivers on Twitter they're not happy with whatever format that PD have come up with
But I own three Ferrari's, one McLaren, one AMG, two Lamborghini's and a Kia Proceed. So for me it is still very difficult to pick one....I own three Subarus. I'm picking Subaru. Simple. 🙂

I own a Ford so... gimme that super overpowered BOP mistake from the last update
If GT1 is still only Group 3, I'm considering running the RCZ. I drives well for me, and it's less common in the Americas region. But if it's 3 and 4, I'll stick to my trusty AMG or maybe try out Porsche.
Well, if this is the vibe then I'll not be picking Lamborghini.Looks like we'll be getting announcements for this today
