Decided to ditch my reclining sport seat and go fixed back. I was gun shy at first but the benefits are there for sure. Especially no back movement on initial braking allowing to break later.

Meet my new Momo Super Cup. I went with the XL version so I have room to custom pad it to my body after a trip to my local foam store.

Man I miss racing but the new driving position and new seat are great step forward for racing and my aging back. I learned soft and cushy isn't the way to go. It's all about just enough support and good lumbar and the rig is feeling more like a GT3 car everyday!

This is my first post.... Hopefully I'm doing it right.


This is my first simrig. I don't like to buy twice so I bought what I thought would last a while.

I only have about 10 minutes of sim racing experience along with watching a lot of youtube videos.

The PC should arrive in a few days: AMD R9 with EVGA 3090. When it arrives I suppose the first thing to do is update all the drivers.

I haven't loaded STEAM before, but it looks easy enough. I plan to run ACC since it looks pretty good in the YouTube videos.

I wanted to build a simrig like Barry Rowland in Sim Racing Garage, but I decided that going with Fanatec and SR2 motion would be good enough. The monitors are Samsung G7

Hopefully it all works when I power it up.

How do I find a local club, league, forum, etc?

I’ve made a couple more updates recently. I added the top screen for race info, and I just finished making the two button boxes on the side. I doubt GT7 will let me use them, but here’s hoping. :)

Solid rig, man. I recently bought ACC and it inspired me to build a PC setup with multiple monitors this year. I love Gran Turismo bit something in me says go bigger.
 
Have any of you guys upgraded to the V3’s from the now discontinued CSL elite load cells? Contemplating making the jump
 
With only a few left weeks to GT7, I decided to upgrade my rig from a wheel stand at the couch to the Next Level GT Lite. Assembly was easy enough, but took me a little time to get things adjusted to feel right.

When I first got in it, I noticed the seat back went back farther than I expected. And it didn’t feel solid, like there was resistance as you lean back and by the time it was solid, it was leaning too far back for me. I tried adjusting legs and angles, but it didn’t feel right to me.

So, I played around with adding 2 more velcro straps on the sides that hold the seat back tighter to the main frame. I eventually landed on what you see in the photos. It was a drastic improvement.

I’m going to get some more seat time in to make sure I like the position, then I’ll tidy up cables a little more. It’s not bad with small velcro straps. I may 3D print caps for the end of the pedal stand. I like it laying flat, and one less part on there is appealing to me if it’s not serving a purpose.

@Scaff , What size monitor are you running? And what titles do you use your button box on?

The desktop is a 32" AOC Curved 1080p/144 monitor, and the one on my rig is a 43" Hisense 4K Roku TV.

The button box I mainly use for PC titles, but I have used it in the past on PS$ for Project Cars 1 & 2, and the F1 series. Gran Turismo, unfortunately, doesn't support keyboard-based Button Boxes. I will test GT7 when I fire it up on Friday to see if that's changed, but I doubt it will have.

I liked the concept of the side velcro straps, but I wanted to improve on it, so I got two more straps and some clips from NLR. I had to fabricate two clips so I could attach to the shift mount receiver, and drill holes on the seat back frame. I really like it. NLR straps are much nicer and don’t have the sharp edges my Amazon straps have. This looks way better too.

Since GT7 just came out, figure I'd update my progress on my rig. Bought an aluminum profile chassis on black friday last year, and upgraded to load cells.

Open Wheel seat and optional risers. Logitech G29. 75 inches of screen (and Dolby 7.1 surround when the house is empty). And of note: converted shifter mount into cup-holder mount! (And sometimes headphone hanger)

The OW seat is a fine piece for the $... the seat itself is good quality but a little uncomfortable- but the frame is stiff and solid as can be. I think it would actually be easy to replace the seat with any, and the frame alone is worth buying. They've improved the pedal mount a bit since I bought this one.

I'd prefer a setup with a little higher seat, to be more level with the TV, but this is a decent arrangement and offers a nice field of view on bumper cam, pretty immersive. I actually get a little motion sick at places like Barcelona and the more sweeping tracks.

I wanted the Playseat but at the time they were 3x the money... I'd be interested in one of those as an alternative or addition to this one. (For racing together on the second PS4 machine in the house)

OK, I've gone and ordered the Fanetec DD GT wheel and the load cell pedal... while the G29 has been an incredible bang for the buck, and the AXC True Brake upgrade was also a nice little improvement, I'm all in on the hardware now. With the improved modeling that is apparent in GT7, I think the immersion experience is going to be another level altogether. Will update things after the Fanetec kit arrives in early April, but looking forward to it.
 
My DIY rig is now complete. Now only air conditioning/ventilation for the seat and the rig follows, a butt kicker is to follow, I want to retrofit the electric lumbar support and at the same time put the adjustable side bolsters of the seat back into operation.

I was looking at those monitors as I am being thrown out of the living room Soon, done well, lasted five years, the cough*menopause*cough and love island is the final straw, get me outta there😂😂

I am putting the rig in a smaller room and wasn’t sure what to do, new Oled Tv or a Samsung curved monitor. I’m assuming the response time on the Samsung is non existent ?

Would like to know your thoughts on how your finding the Samsung ?

I'm finding it great both with ACC on the PC and GT7 even with the narrower display due to the PS5 only supporting 16:9 with the screen being so close I don't find it an issue at all.
Response time as you say is virtually non existent.
I was actually so impressed with it that I purchased the Neo G9 for my study too!
