I'm always kind of amazed how they stay afloat, even after understanding the concept of buoyancy.

isn't even finished yet. That photo is from its first sea trial, which was last month. It's spending the rest of the year having the inside fittings put in.
 
It's posted as a joke, but it's accidentally very cool. It's like you're looking through a transparent Earth at locations on both sides at once.
That's not unlike Wyld's globe at the 1861 Great Exhibition; a giant hollow globe you could climb inside to see the earth from a custom-built concave perspective.

Not a fan of requiring a sherpa to visit the Smoky-Himalayan Mountain Range, but at least the traffic problems through Pigeon Forge are now fixed.
