Just noticed this club, I’ve joined, also the discord.

Much prefer the older cars myself so I’ll try to do as much as I can but I’m unfortunately time poor with having to run my kids about almost non stop.
 
Welcome everyone,

We are on the eve now of the 63rd running of the Rallye Automobile de Monte Carlo, ready to kick off the 1995 season. With 8 rounds taking us across Europe, Africa and Australasia, we're expecting a hugely competitive season. It is the 2nd year of the new WRC rotational calendar, giving us the shortest calendar since 1974 during the oil crisis.

Didier Auriol finally gave France a world champion in 1994 at the wheel of the Toyota Celica, but we will crown a new champion this season. Ford will be hoping for an improvement after the Escort RS Cosworth showed signs of serious speed having taken wins in Monte-Carlo and Finland. Subaru had their first full season with the Impreza, guiding it to 3 wins, so expect them to come out strong too. Mitsubishi are expected to bring the Evo 3 to the table during the season but will kick off with the Evo 2. Toyota meanwhile bring the Celica ST205 to the full calendar after Kankkunen drove it in San Remo and took it to the podium at Rally GB.​

SS4: Les Borels 2 - 8.6km

Day 2:
Morning Service
SS5: Pra d'Alart - 8.9km
SS6: Peira Cava - La Bollene-Vesubie - 18.2km
Lunchtime Service
SS7: Ravin de Coste Belle - 8.6km
SS8: La Bollene-Vesubie - Col de Turini - 9.2km
Overnight service

Day 3:
SS9: Ravin de Coste Belle 2 - 8.6km

The car choice I find really hard in this category because I never been fan of any of them. The Impreza for McRae and the first CMR game and the Ford, well Delecourt 🥳 hmmmm
 
So free to choose whatever Car/Team we want then?

I'm gravitating towards the Cossie as a M-Sport Ford fan and that I imagine the 555 Impreza's will be popular... The weird 7 speed gearbox in the Escort is a bit of a put off as it was a hindrance in DiRT Rally 2 with that car... Shouldn't be too bad on the tarmac though.

I’m in a quandary as well, like you say, the Impreza will be a popular choice for sure. Lots of Escorts and Impreza in the warm up stage. Couple of Galants and a Legacy too. Plus a rogue Delta @Imari 😜.

I want to go Impreza but I also want to make sure every car has a few entrants to may go Mitsubishi.
 
Think I’ll be going for the scooby, would have went escort but my h shifter is only a six speed.
In dr2 I’d the escort gearing set up as six speed for this reason but with wrc not saving setups that’s a bit more difficult.

As usual I’ll be full cockpit view, soft lock and h shifter so not expecting to be up in the head of leaderboard, going for more of a journeyman approach!
 
Greetings all, a heads up from myself (note I am possessed by the restless spirit of semi-mythical Scandiwegian rally driver Turbu Laginnen):

You can ban the Delta, but you really can't stop me clicking it, and lord knows I can't stop myself.

With that in mind I would like to thank Riccardo Errani for creating the loophole I require by driving a Lancia Delta Integrale on the 1995 Monte Carlo rally.

I am of course, happy to be DSQd in the name of love, but I'll probably crash anyway.

It happens, my plan in Monte was to grant reprieve to Lancia selections on the premise they don’t get chosen again. So go forth and be free Turbu Laginnen. Just garage the Delta after 😜

I certainly doubt I'll do anything impressive on the Monte, which is a real bogey rally for me, but I may be amenable to picking something else going forward from there.

Unless my thumb slips - you can't stop me! Then again, a rock or tree almost certainly will :)

That’s an impressive assortment of cars in that list there, something that’s missing in today’s wrc.

Yes kids, it really was better in the old days 🤣
 
Championship starts within the next hour. Have fun everyone.
I will be a bit late to time control as I will be upgrading my PC with a few new bits and a new windows install tomorrow. I hope to start either tomorrow evening or wednesday. Depends when I get everything Re-installed and back up and running.

I'll be joining Francois Delecour and Bruno Thiry in the Ford Escort Cosworth.

Heh, I'm not sure I'd read the rules when I drove that. I just didn't want your event to go unloved. :cheers:

I'm tempted to go Mitsi just to keep the loose cannon-ness going. Also, I feel like it comes pre-baked with excuses for when I inevitably choke. It was all the car, the driver was just doing his best and the tree LEAPED into the middle of the road.

Scrap that. I won't be getting my PC back until Thursday 😭 Still, I'm looking forward to how improved WRC will run as my old CPU and GPU were passed their best.

Mitsubishi seems the least loved of the Group A cars, which is a shame. I was going to use it but my Subaru sense kicked in and went with the Impreza.

It probably makes sense because of the dates, but having the Evo 6 moved from Group A to the expanded 00's class was arguably the biggest disappointment for me, it was in my top 3 most enjoyable cars to drive in DR2. 😔

Still not sure what I'll plump with but I'll probably give the Evo 3 a whirl, see if she holds up to snuff.

Yeah I think because they modelled the World Rally Car version rather than the Group A version it was always in the wrong class in DR2.0. It’s a shame though because the Group A Evos are the most successful, they were still using Group A specs/rules up to the beginning of 2001 even though World Rally Car rules started in 1997.

What annoys me about those roads is that my winter driving brain keeps trying to place the wheels in the tracks cleared of snow like you would in real life to get more grip. But in game it's all the same grip, it's just fancy graphics. Until you slide off the track, down a hill and into a tree.
