More fun racing yesterday! The Corvette got a good workout :)
Here's a coupla pics from Goodwood and Brands
Couple turns on goodwood I was almost sideways haha. Sometimes I have too much fun after the long straight going into that right then left hander. That Porsche does well. I ran the 904 there before it’s a blast on that track. Actually a lot of cars are haha

I like that alfa tune. Sounds cool. I’d like to be able to get it to turn in just a bit more if I can. Not sure how to accomplish that though. Like maybe make it a tad more dicey being able to steer with the throttle some? I was finding I have to really throw it into the corner to break it loose. Would that be adjustable with the LSD? I don’t really do much in depth tuning besides throwing parts on until it feels good.

Open to any suggestions without changing the tune or parts, maybe there’s a setting in LSD that will let me do a little throttle steering?

yeah I reckon the sports tyres make it a bit too racey. Maybe try on comfort mediums for some slides :D
I’ll try that but I noticed I had to change the lsd so I might look into reading up on that stuff and see what I can do. But I’ll save this tune before I make changes. I’m not great with all the other settings, yet anyway. Had fun with it on goodwood though. You should work at some tunes on other similar cars to match up with that one? This weekend I might do some testing with all of mine and make sure they’re all fairly close and then make a little mini league just to try them out.

Maybe span it over two weekends, three 10 lap races. Six tracks. Maybe don’t even keep score but try to have everyone in similar cars. Worst case scenario we run a different car each race.

Sounds like a good idea! I removed the diff and put comfort mediums on the alfa and it's just under 450pp, so I'll whip up some tunes on CMs for similar stuff :)

Sounds good, I’ll try to remember to do that. No idea what will match up but good luck should be fun. Off the top of my head I can’t think of similar cars but I’m sure there’s at least five others.

In other news, there's some old cars running around Laguna today/tomorrow. Goodwood Road & Racing are streaming it on YouTube - worth a look

Edit: The Goodwood feed is glitchy, so use the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca channel!

Here's my first attempt at making some cars to match the Alfa. All under 450pp, on comfort mediums. Even found an RR and FF car that look competitive, just couldn't make the mini work :(

Edit: The only widebody car is the BMW CSL, but can't imagine it makes much difference. It might be the fastest, but doesn't handle great!

I’ll probably start with other one. Not sure how many of those I have doubles of currently. How do they compare? Running close-ish lap times?

I think I’ve got a spare skyline, probably start with that. Might have a spare jag.

Here are the numbers from my quick runs at Goodwood:

BMW CSL - 1:31.2
Skyline - 1:31.6
240ZG - 1:32.3
Citroen DS - 1:32.4
Alfa Giulia - 1:32.5
Renault Gordini - 1:32.5
E-Type - 1:32.7

Far from a perfect test and just the one track. I'd hope people's driving styles will be more of a variable, but we can always tweak to improve the balance.

Looks close to me. Better than my muscle car group lol

I’m thinking of going through my muscle cars, running three different tracks with the Camaro and then one by one seeing what I have to do to match them up nice and close. They’re weird though, a lot of them come in a lot lower but are just as fast? Big block vs Small block engines I think.

Watkins Glen, Spa and yeah maybe Goodwood would be enough variation for me to do that.

Nice jim! Hawekez you're onto something man, the vintage racing is taking shape.
I also have a spare skyline 70' and you can grab the fairlady 240ZG at the used dealership rn.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll buy one. Not sure I can get to throwing the tunes on them before 1pm. If only we could share tunes… lol

Yeah seems more people are showing up? I’m slowly working on some stuff to maybe attract a little more but people that just like to race and attempt to keep it clean. I know it doesn’t always go that way, accidents happen. Going to rename the league and get some people to try and match up some cars like chimney has done and I tried to do with the muscle cars.

lolrom feel free to pick a class give it a go, not sure what’s left? Haha. It would be cool to get the xj13, mark iv, P4, 917k, 2J all running together, using the xj13 and mark iv as the cars to match the other ones to as those two seems pretty darn close already to me. So essentially retuning the other ones haha

meaning the xj13 and mark iv are the pp limit, whatever they run for lap times at whatever tracks, the others can be downtuned to run the same, not sure the 2J will detune enough though.

oh yeah we did a ford v ferrari once that was good! I'll have a look.

That's great to have more categories.
I messed around a bit with the 240 and changed some stuff that maybe make it more playful/realistic.
I feel like it works better when the parts kind of match. For example, I felt it worked better to have:

- SH tires / sport suspension / low gear transmission / sport brakes
than
- CfM tires /normal suspension / racing transmission / racing breaks.

Im just throwing ideas here, Im no expert when it comes to tuning...

that couldn't hurt. my thinking was on comforts, stock suspension is just fine, but if we we were to go for SH, upgrading the suspension makes sense. My thinking was that, at lower power we'd want lower grip, but up for whatever :)

For the Alfa tune, not sure I want to touch that one it is super fun to drive.

Maybe we can have changeable parts type tunes? Nothing wrong with swapping out tires and suspension once in awhile. That way we don’t need five of each car. Maybe certain tracks work better with the different parts and in time we can find that out.

I’ll get your other tunes applied to the cars I have Chimney.

Good racing today had a lot of fun even though I spun myself to the back for two of the races lol

comforts worked well at 450pp

Tuned the 240z and the Skyline. My skyline came in 0.20 higher than your tune so not sure what I got different. I think I matched the 240z up exact though.

Took each one for a quick goodwood test drive. They seem good. I prefer the handling of the Alfa but I didn’t turn my laptop on to run SimHub so maybe that’s why I found the 240z and Skyline tail end to come around on me more easily.

The 580pp Goodwood challenge I think I get 4th with each car, I may have gotten 2nd or 3rd with the Alfa.

Got the Gordini tuned as well. That thing is a handful hahaha. So far there are all really fun cars to drive. I’ll have to wait to get the E type and the bmw I don’t have spares that I can use. I noticed I have an alpine A110 at 449pp with CS, I have it tuned so you can actually drive the thing, if that thing comes up again I might buy it and see if I can get it to sit nice with these other cars you’ve tuned. Thanks for getting these tuned.

I ran a 1:34 with this thing on that 580 historic goodwood challenge. I just tweaked the tune I had before. Could always give it a try and see if you can run a 1:31 like you were with the other cars.

** If anybody has time to run the muscle car tunes on Watkins Glen 700 challenge (the full course) and take note of your best lap time in each car. Maybe post them in here?

I’m trying to tighten them all up. I just spent that last hour and a half running that event with each car and writing down my best lap time. I’m curious to see how each car compares for you guys… which one is the best and which ones come up a bit short. Difference between my fastest time to my slowest time it was about 2.7 seconds so definitely on the right track.

Don’t feel obligated to put all that time in but if you do I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. I found some of the muscle cars easier to drive than others which I think led to the faster lap times.

Made a few changes to a couple. I ran them again, got all into the 2:00:500 average range. Close enough haha, ranges 2:00:100 to 2:00:900. It so hard to tell if I just ran better with one of them. I think I need to tweak just a tiny bit more and I’ve got it. I’ll share my tunes again once I’m consistently running them all to very close lap times.

Here’s the new tunes, couldn’t remember what I changed on what cars so I’ll upload them all again. Watkins Glen, each car I ran at least three times on the 700pp challenge and my best lap in each car was 2:00:100 to 2:00:900 and the slower ones I felt like I could probably trim .300 off of the time. I figure thats close enough.

Thanks! I've updated mine to match. As usual, I can't quite match the PP on them all, but made sure they're as close as possible.
The only one that stuck out to me was the Challenger, since it doesn't have a lot of upgrades - brakes in particular. I've not tried it so we'll see how it matches up later :)

Yeah surprisingly that one, I don’t know I think I ran a 2:00:400 with that one and it’s detuned?

at least brakes are easy to toss on if need be.

I made Jim's alfa and CSL '71 tune. The CSL but it's a really fun ride.
I like the way you can make it turn with the throttle, but then gotta be careful on exit, the rear feels light.
The alfa is absolutely great.
